Why remove half of the jewel sockets?

I was REALLY starting to get into this game but now I won't be touching it again unless they rework this travesty of an update and make things right again.

I highly doubt that will happen but wanted to add my voice to the incredibly long list of people that are devastated by how horrible this is.

Good job turning a good fan base against you in record speed.

Too bad they don’t let us choose the locations of the jewel slots

Even if they did 12 is too few for the future health of the game and constantly changing the number is a toxic way to design the game.

Basically by cutting by 50% they told you out loud “we don’t care about the future of this game” OR “we have no idea what we are doing”

Like those are pretty much the two most likely options by leaps and bounds statistically.

It seems so insignificant right? Just 12 jewel slots so what? It’s such a small part of the game right? Wrong.

It’s a major part of the future of the game and they are just gonna keep moving the goal post like d4

Not with economy resets. But they’ll engineer ways.

They just showed you their intentions. It’s either malicious or ignorant.

I’m just a guy. Everyone is just a person. But this change was bs and I didn’t even have to play a second of it to know it. Normally I’d worry about being ignorant but this is simply math.

You give something beautiful and you take 50%. You lose a lot of people along the way. Seems dumb right? But in this context it fits like a glove.

Even now I am doing someone else’s job and helping repair this toxic change. But will my words fall on deaf ears? Who knows.

In my opinion it was malicious and intentional to get other games in the portfolio to sell long term. Whole gaming industry has become a rug pull.

They can’t all profit if a few developers make actual good games. So gimp the games after paid release and move on to the next rug pull.

The inability to take blame for problems and just laughing off “oppsy we doubled boss hp and never noticed” seems like it would indicate ignorance but personally that’s malice to me.

Ignorance typically in context assumes goodness but stupidity. Those type of people treat it as serious matters.

This is there jobs. Not mine. Not yours. We don’t have to apologize for expectations after having played the last 6 months of a completely different game with the same exact title.

I didn’t spend 2 months of constant theory crafting for them to rug pull me over and over in the future. Once is good enough for me.

I don’t see in what dimension anyone from GGG saw this change going over well in anyway shape or form

You’d have to quite literally be top percentile dumbest humans alive. Or malicious intent.

I will stress again, I didn’t have to play a second of it. I just looked at the numbers themselves.

New red flag for any game. Guild with 0 purpose.

Also when people asked for you to make sekehma rings more meaningful this is not what they meant.

Hanlon's razor
Never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity.

Calm down, friend. You're taking a game too personally. I understand you and fully share your point of view on the patch. But just exhale, accept reality, and after taking a break from any games, just find yourself a new one for a couple of days. There are so many great games in the world. I'm sure you haven't passed 1% of all the great games. Just get some rest.

The developers just have strong problems in terms of game design. They have lost their understanding of their own game. This is quite possible when you're working on a game almost all the time, but you don't have enough time to play your project anymore.

And problems like accidentally missing health from bosses emphasize this. With the release of the game in early access, they faced a lot of problems and were simply physically unable to solve them all at once.

There is no time to delve into the build in detail, and some decisions, perhaps due to lack of time from more competent specialists, could be given to newcomers.

Perhaps the solution to the Adorned problem was one of those problems. It's sad that this happens, but that's life.

Both Hanlons and Occhams razor are the most successful psyops of all time.

Yes yes there is no such thing as bad people. Hanlons razor said so. It’s always ignorance never intent? That sounds like a morons way of viewing the world.

To make my point clearer to you, anything that can be attributed to malice can also be attributed to ignorance. Hanlons razor essentially says “evil intentions do not exist”

Almost as if bad people profit from making you believe they don’t exist

The difference is intent, not wisdom.

You don’t seem to understand something else as well. I will never purchase another video game.

It has become abundantly clear to me video games have entered the realm of 99.999999999% chance of designed rug pull. Insanity is repeating the same action and expecting a different result.

The reason they waited 48 hours till patch to drop this all on our laps is because THEY ALL KNEW IT WAS A BAD IDEA.

Unpaid alpha testers at blizzard get treated better than this. Path of exile 2 managed to innovate a new way to be a scumbag in the gaming industry, neato.

How much real world money does it cost me to have a full guild roster again? And how can anyone but botters have a full guild roster in the short future when you have under 1,000 active real players worldwide?

Macro transactions masquerading as micro transactions should have been the only red flag I needed. But I gave them the benefit of the doubt.

I’m not mad at GGG, I’m disappointed in myself for thinking they were anything but another group of scumbags.

Thanks for the lesson and enjoy my $100, don’t spend it all in one place.

PS: if this is what the game looked like at early access launch I would have never given you my money. I’m sure a lot of people feel similarly. I guess to you all that’s what defines success, being able to fleece as many suckers as you can before you pull the rug and get set up for the next one. Congrats on your overwhelming success, I’m sure when f2p launches you’ll be able to fleece an entire new group of suckers on the macro transactions just as you planned.

It is quite literally sickening you have become this out of touch with reality. But it’s the entire games industry so I guess what can I expect. Last epoch will be the same polished turd.

If last epoch wasn’t a polished turd they wouldn’t have pushed back the release date. Competitors don’t fear competition. They are born in it.

Last epoch studio could have cut GgG a check to make poe2 bad right before LE launch.

Thats the other part of this that is sickening GGG made these changes knowing primary competition was releasing alongside it.

Corruption, nepotism, drugs, sex cult. That’s what we are dealing with, the gaming industry isn’t even a living entity anymore. It’s just a beached whale everyone thinks is still alive.

These changes were not to improve the game or make player experience better, the changes were made entirely to line people’s pockets. What has happened here is so illogical it should be illegal.

I still don’t understand why it’s asking too much to have them actually test stuff considering they can make accounts that admin spawn any items with any rolls they need to test. Takes us 10,000 hours to make a perfect build. Takes them 10 minutes.

But I’m the asshole who has too high of expectations? Game was released in closed alpha state and advertised as open beta ready.

The fact GGG felt so woefully unprepared to make better meaningful end game they had to sacrifice 12 jewel slots on the tree might be lost to everyone else whose managed to read all this, but it isn’t lost to me.

GGG literally showed you their hand. They have no intentions of making the game fun.

Every end game build is going to suck as equally as they can manage to make it.

Every end game build will require as close to BIS as they can feasibly force.

Diablo 4 said they want 10% of players to reach end game each season.

Clearly GGG wants .0001% of the natural non streamer/botter players to reach end game each season.

In my opinion if you are balancing your game for how many players get into the end game each season you’ve completely lost the plot. But what can I expect from people who launched an AARPG with no PvP and then made it over 50% less fun than it launched at with still no PvP.

My favorite part of all this is how all the SSF players were like “good riddance” “I’ll keep enjoying SSF”

Where are those crickets now? Did they log into the game and find out SSF is in a worse state than hardcore almost?

Neato. It’s almost as if the 24 jewel slots made SSF very manageable and the 12 jewel slots makes SSF a crap shoot.

Don’t even get me started on hardcore. Thats a walking meme of its own.

You’d have to be a special kinda stupid at this point to engage with poe2 hardcore under these conditions.

Anyway I’ll recommend a fix:

Give us 20 jewel slots or 18 jewel slots and double how many jewels I can put in Sekehma rings.

Sekhema rings would feel so much better if they dropped as Hybrid between emerald/ruby/sapphire with two different jewel slots on each ring.

I figure i use a little of that 50% and 200% logic they are addicted to maybe they listen.
