Warning for Ultra widescreen Mod after I disabled it

Offscreen kills I suppose are still a thing? I have not played in over a month. On the 32:9, just saying, I can still get off screened back then from the top and bottom of screen. I do know that. I also, see once again, a down trend of players playing poe2. Everything I've stated in this post is proving true. Why have they not taken the small amount of time to listen to sense here and take action on it if so? Instead they sit in silence on some views and player feedback, doing their own things, made up some thinking of what everyone else wants? Or doing something that they themselves want but barely anyone else does!? In the mean-time. Last Epoch has been making a slow-steady pace upwards. Save for a few days here since a VERY large patch is about to come out and change the game. Then I expect of course a spike up. We'll see how things go after that 1 as well. See who retains what. Would be interesting. Again, I can play 32:9 there. And there's NO, absolutely NO off-screen kills. However, at the start of the game it was easy (before this patch) Took a while to get more complicated and difficult. You can even do quite well with Melee (Decided on that from the start). There's LOTS of equipment drops. Crafting is interesting. So are pieces you can get to give you buffs called idols. There's NO weird negative things you get along with the buffs that I know of yet. I know POE2 does that. I'm not against it, but some of it just seems too stupid to put along with the buff that people would never use it cause of that debuff. |

There is a point everyone is forgetting.
Mobs play with 32:9 so that they can shoot you befor you can see them LOL Herein lies the real reason you get no support! |

From what I hear and this is from several streamers etc... Some white mobs can 1 shot you. Is that the fun state of the game now? Are people having fun with that? Again, look through my other posts here and you'll find a statement I've used that holds true. It's like unto this... They're sucking the fun from the game. It's becoming more like a frustrating chore job. As soon as they did this ban on 32:9, they also came with other bad decisions and then the bad decision patch that they're trying to recover from. This isn't to bash at them, it's early release and I suppose there's room then to make bad decision? However, when do the good decisions start? Is this what they went through with games of old? How about one of the oldest games I used to play online that I can think of at the moment. Aliens vs. Predator. I don't remember any of this nonsense going on with that. I remember games later on that were online, like Jedi Academy having issues with people making mods to cheat online with. But I don't remember patches to change the game because something was unbalanced or didn't work well etc... I could be wrong, if they did, I didn't notice it or even being announced. I certainly see it now! I can buy a product (game) and it can completely change from what I bought it "as" to something completely different. In my own opinion, that should be illegal. But then again, people go and modify it themselves where it goes both ways. Therefore again. It's simple, make the game fun, leave players be with their "fun". If players aren't bothering anyone else with their version of fun, let them be, they aren't bothering anyone. That's how you get a larger variety of players into a game. Agree? Or am I missing something? |

im not a huge arpg player and for me its either poe2 or nothing. i just dont like the art style of last epoch, i enjoy the more realistic style of poe more. and the currency mechanic and trading is what wants me to keep playing it. i love numbers and i love always calculating in my head how much stuff is worth in different currencies and trying to make profit ingame. for me its like another game inside of the actual game.
but still, im only going to play either in 32:9 or not at all. i dont really mind since like i said, i dont have to play an arpg. i have plenty other games to enjoy. at the end of the day, its just a game. |

I havn't read the early posts here when the game first launched. Has anyone ever complained about others cheating? I've heard about maps being too big. Currency not quite enough. Annoying people who spoil trading (might be the only near cheating I heard of for a time after launch) Bad armor and evade which do next to nothing, sad defenses and resistances. But cheating? I didn't hear of it myself, but I also wasn't quite looking for it. Who complained about 32:9 specifically even? Where did that ever even come from, right here at the start of this game? I'm just thinking about that.....
The game is still on a downward trend. In fact, as I just now looked at both POE2 and Last Epoch. Last Epoch has more players playing right now as I'm writing this. Amazing. And I'd say a significant amount. Last Epoch spiked at the patch as expected but so far continuing steady...will see throughout the weekend. |

The only issue I see is any kind of technical problem where like, enemies might not see you from that far away. Then, I would understand why ultrawide isn't available.
But otherwise, as someone who does NOT play on an ultrawide... they should just let people have ultrawide support. Like I don't care, you can see more, so what? Even if it's some kind of 'advantage' I don't have space on my desk for one and I don't want one. I'm on 1440p and I like it well enough. |

There's been others who have said along the same lines as you have. And others who came here with some pretty nasty statements against it that didn't make sense seeing how gameplay actually is, experiences, and responses from others, etc... We still have no response from GGG far as I know upon this. I may just uninstall at some point. I don't really know how long of a time long is when awaiting some kind of response. So far, a little over a month. But I also know they have plenty of other issues to think about, however, I think this one is pretty small to give a reply to in some kind of way. So I pretty much check here daily. Weeee lol. |

" If you think about it, not a single person has expressed they are against ultra widescreen support. Those two you are referring to never expressed any opinion of their own and only ever tried to argue with the opinion of others. With me, for example, I am very much for the game being way harder, and before the ultrawide issue I did respond in some threads with people complaining about the game being too difficult. But I never responded by saying "your opinion is factually wrong" (like those two were exclusively doing). Instead I always simply responded with my own opinion "In my opinion the game should be harder". But not a single person has actually done that here. Because its obvious to everyone that it doesn't make sense to discriminate against an arbitrary piece of hardware. I hope GGG manages to dedicate some resources to fix the ultrawide issue for us, even though they are busy at the moment trying to fix a burning ship. |

i think they are still not sure what to fix first, the burning ship or the water leaking hole.

" Haha yes, it's evident that they aren't thinking deeply enough about how to go about certain things. Of course this was already evident to us here even before the patch, I believe Legend#8685 pointed it out already back then that them making such a weird mistake on the ultrawide issue would inevitably lead to equally bad decisions down the line - which is exactly what happened. I'll share my take on the situation and what I think they should do here, only because I think its interesting - I don't care what they do either way as long as ultrawide remains unsupported. I think the core of the issue is that the majority of players, even those that choose to play relatively difficult games, subjectively think they are good at the game while objectively being bad. In actual competitive games, you solve this by having a ranking system, and then you balance the game around the top 1% of players. Because of the ranking system, the 99% of players understand (to some extent) that the reason they can't deal with X is because they suck and not because X is unbalanced. PoE 2 however is not actually a competitive game and so you can't have a ranking system that clearly reflects player skill. It's more similar to single player games like Elden Ring or Baldurs Gate 3 in that sense. Something those three games have in common (ER, BG3, PoE2) is that they are difficult and complex. ER and BG3 balance this difficulty and complexity by giving the player a lot of tools to play around with and figure out how to overcome it. And THAT is what PoE 2 should have done, but failed to do in my opinion. It was absolutely correct to nerf everything the way they did in my opinion. There was way too much broken stuff going on, but they could have increased the amount of loot players get so they would have had more tools to make up for it. They SHOULD make a difficult game, its very clear from the games that have a lot of success that people like difficulty and complexity. Difficulty and complexity is what separates PoE 2 from Diablo 4. So they NEED to make it hard otherwise its just as dead as Diablo. But this is how I would do it: When there are a lot of broken stuff that needs to get nerfed - increase the loot to make up for the increased difficulty a bit. When there aren't a lot of broken stuff - scale the amount of loot back a bit. |
