Death Penalty

But the fun of reaching 100 is because it's difficult to get there.

Then play hardcore. It's more difficult so by your standards it's more fun.

Since you like to make a millionth thread
i gladly like to write the millionth same opinion:

XP loss is not a problem, progress loss is.
10% xp is just xp, losing the map, the even, and started to look for a map and tower again to juice was way worse

If GGG wants to keep the death penalty its fine
What I would ask for:

make the omens always appear in ritual map "shop" pool

At least give players the opportunity to aim for rituals and buy the death preventing and xp mitigation omens.
(the others could appear too, you would be limit with the ritual currency after some point)

"

So you didn't see what I did there. Keep reading what I quoted then my response, maybe it will click.

That aside, it's also a completely subjective opinion of yours that death penalty is the only form of challenge. If that's the only challenge then it's a failure of a game.

It's not a challenge, it's an artificial way of slowing level progression and the only thing it ever did for me was to force 1 of 2 things: use a meta AOE screen clearing build that is no challenge at all, or play an ultra passive defensive style that consists of killing enemies as soon as they enter the screen as I back up. Both require zero skill or challenge. I had more of a challenge and fun in the campaign using dodge roll and out maneuvering enemies. I didn't want to die, but I wasn't forced to play a boring play style in fear of losing hours of progress from a cheap death that didn't even test my skill.

It by definition is a challenge. Let me explain to you how it works.

Currently the challenge is that you have to play for a long time without dying too often, thats what makes it challenging because you have to get better at the game, learn the mechanics, improve your build, etc.

Now explain to me where the challenge in reaching level 100 is after you have it your way and they remove exp penlty.
What prevents the worst player in the game from just dying over and over and corpse rushing his way to 100 as long as he plays long enough?

Because if its challenging to hit 100 now but theres no challenge you can point to after removing exp penalty then how can you say exp penalty isnt a challenge? See what I did there?

No. Shouldn't have to rely on omens to fix a broken mechanic.

XP penalty wouldn't be a big deal if map tiers could go higher. The problem is losing hours of grinding on 1 death. If they want it to take forever to grind XP at lvl90+ then XP penalty should be removed. It's a seasonal ARPG, not Final Fantasy

When someone is talking on a game forum and reffering to "players" then they are talking about the people who are playing the game. Not players in csgo and other games. Incase you got confused.

Let me help YOUR confusion. Less than 4 weeks ago, almost 250,000 people were playing POE 2 on steam. Today, the number is approximately 56,000.

Ok so its a punishment and not a challenge. So explain to me, with no exp penalty where is the challenge in reaching level 100? You can just die over and over and corpse rush your way to 100 nomatter how bad you are its only a question if you have enough time. The challenge currently is that you have to do it without dying too often. Explain to me where the challenge is after your solution?

Hello, have you heard of pinnacle content? There are bosses and gauntlets where you must offer an item that is consumed with limited number of tries. You can not brute force T4 Arbiter, Xesht, simulacrums, and more.

1. I dont see what that has to do with anything either you or me wrote. When someone says "the majority of players" then they are obviously talking about the people playing the game not some number on a steam chart months ago.

2. What does any of those examples have to do with reaching level 100? How is breach splinters posing a challenge to my goal of hitting level 100?

It's not a challenge, it's a time sink. You just flat out don't understand difference.

Why don't you play hardcore? It's more challenging to hit 100 so it's more fun. You have to play for a real long time without dying. You'd love that. Why don't you just do that?

Then why arent you answering my question?
What specificly is the challenge in reaching level 100 with no exp penalty?

What prevents me from just sinking hours into the game while dying over and over to the same mechanic that I couldve learned how to avoid and still reach level 100?

Aside from the fact that your obviously missdirecting because you have no answer because the answer is that no challenge exists which renders your whole argument mute.

I looked over all your replies to me and the only question (as in singular) you ever asked is why I dont play hc. Which obviously is another missdirection of yours to try and distract from your poor excuses. How do you know that I dont play hc? Me playing hc or not has no impact or relevance on the discussion or either of our arguments. I could be playing hardcore and still have an opinion on weither or not death penalty is good for the game. But to answer your question I do also play hc just not every league.

Now you could kindly answer mine

1. You cannot pretend to speak for the majority of POE 2 players, that they enjoy the rough grind to level 100, and then ignore that the majority of POE 2 players stopped playing the game less than 4 weeks after a big update. It does not work that way.

2. The challenge to level 100 that you crave, already exists in hardcore mode.
