Loot needs a nerf

My brother suggested I hire the folks in this forum complaining about loot for 50 exalts an hour - guaranteed currency for them! - to just follow me and collect my drops for me, which sounds like an ABSURD solution

I would like to apply for this position. What are the hours? And can I instead get paid in chaos orbs?

Sorry, is this position still available? Please let me know. I can do exalts if chaos orbs are an issue for some reason.

Stop playing trade then. It's very simple if you are just playing to buy the next GG item then you clearly are not actually playing the game your buying your way to the end game. Then get back to us about how you are getting to much loot. Start over and earn it all again and let us know how that goes.

The game does not need to cater to casuals. There are plenty of games that already do. Perhaps these games would suit your playstyle a bit better.

Jobless and proud o7

I work from home. I play poe2 during slow times at work. Cope a bit harder my friend. Sorry you have 7 jobs, 25 kids, and can only play for 7 minutes every night

I hard disagree with some of your points, but mostly agree on the others.

Loot is bad throughout the entire game, including endgame. I would recommend watching Fubgun's video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR_70p0RrQU
He gives a very fair review of endgame. Unless you line up 3 towers with great tablets on each, decent rarity (and maybe quantity too) on maps, and boosted atlas for rarity/quantity - then you will have an extremely hard time finding any good loot. I personally will not change my opinion of loot from just one picture you have, from just one omega boosted map, in just endgame. I think the vast majority of players will lose their patience and hope before reaching the pinnacle of endgame like that after spending countless hours just to maybe get there.

As for your other opinions:

-I agree that campaign story is good and visuals are wonderful

-I agree that the music is awesome

-I disagree that campaign is more challenging. The player power was greatly reduced, and monsters buffed. All this did was slow everything down, made nameless white mobs super powerful, and stripped away any reward we had left from campaign loot in 0.1. That simply made the game more tedious and frustrating to deal with, it did not add challenge.

-I disagree when you say "poe2 is not an ARPG". It was branded as such, it was advertised as such, and it IS an ARPG. Just because the game has become very "souls like" does not mean it's no longer an ARPG. I've played ARPG's in the past like Runescape. The reason they're both ARPG's is because they have real-time combat, place emphasis on stat/gear progression, and involve a loot-driven experience. That is what the main definition of an ARPG has always been, and it is what made me interested to play this game.

-I agree that the game is pretty complex and difficult to learn as a new player, but hopefully GGG will make more QoL changes before full release

-I agree that there are a lack of chase items. GGG gutted all the best uniques going into 0.2 from pinnacle bosses. They didn't have to nerf them so hard, and they could've easily buffed the underperforming ones too. Just another reason for players to lose interest in grinding, because what fun and exciting reasons do we have to grind for anymore...? feels bad boys

-I agree that we need more movement speed. I'd say we need a lot lot more. But enough to even the playing field. So like more movespeed notables on opposite side of the tree since they only have it on one side (dont know why). Also giving us all some extra base movespeed somehow would be great like you mentioned, but maybe they can give more base movespeed at specific times of the game (like after act 3 completion and act 3 cruel completion, or maybe in ascendancies like you mentioned, both good ideas). I dare say they should even get rid of the movespeed penalty from chest pieces, thats just annoying... too many downsides in the darn game!!! More movespeed would eliminate lots of frustration around some maps being too big (as long as dead ends and stuff like that are removed as much as possible too)

-I agree that spirits and rogues need more "umph" to em. All we do is waste our time with these mechanics. I dislike that the wisps can take you across the map to a rare, but then you have to backtrack because you skipped all sorts of areas just following the wisp. I don't even have enough time to kill half of the low level mobs that the wisp passes by and buffs. Also, we get literally no loot from these things EVEN with boosted atlas to get the mechanics more often. Sad times

Anyways, nice post OP. Thanks for sharing. I'm gonna go rest my hands now cas I typed way too much haha.

Cheers

Agree with most of this, however Fubgun is a poe 1 player and used to the in my opinion overtuned drop rates of that game with all its omegajuice strategies, so clearly he think the loot is bad in poe 2. I think most people that dislike the current loot drops are poe 1 veterans.

My only issue with loot atm is the fact that the normal atlas tree doesnt really seem to have much impact on loot drops, wisp suck and doesnt seem to improve loot from possessed mobs, rouge exiles same story roughly a 20% chance for one to actually show up in ur map without tablet mods if u allocate all available nodes and on top of this only about 1/5 actually have any unique items, to be honest i get more uniques from regular rare mobs. Strongboxes take too long and doesnt drop the loot worth the extra time spend, only the unique ones seem fine and doesnt really seem to appear more often with or without the atlas nodes. Shrines well sure some extra mobs and buffs but not really that big of a deal and the essences dropped from essence mobs are in my opinion too restricted in many ways.

League mechanics however do have an impact which is probably the only usefull mechanics in the current atlas tree atm. My only problem here is, They kept saying during development that they wanted a slower paced game with a focus on using multiple skills and combo's so my question is, why do we still have mechanics like breach, delirium etc. which only favours one playstyle (omegafast, 1 button full screen clear playstyle) ???? In my opinion this is a huge contradiction to their vision and why i think this game has an identity crisis. Everyone knows that time based mechanics only suits this kind of playstyle and kind of forces a certain meta on people if they want to be efficient in these mechanics, and i do think that the 50%++ lightning spear builds this league proves my point here
at this point i just can’t fucking stand the poe 2 hard coping crowd. The only ones left are casuals, noobs, new to arpg players, d4 players, gamer dads and so on IE people who in the long run don’t matter and as this
post shows their feedback in the meantime is literally insane and going to, keep, harming the game.
hahahahaha this post is a joke

I've never played poe1 and think loot is horrendous in poe2. I think anyone can sense that there's barely any loot in this league, but I guess some newer players might not understand what a healthy amount of loot looks like in an ARPG.

Atlas tree is indeed underpowered. GGG tell us they want our choices to feel impactful, but the game does nothing but limit your build diversity/imagination, and give you downsides everywhere. But even though they decided not to put downsides on the Atlas tree... they just made it super weak haha, what's the difference? sheesh GGG...

You mentioned GGG having an "identity crisis" - I think it's because they are trying to be both an ARPG and souls like game at the same time, while having 100's of monsters per map all way faster and stronger than you (no clue why they would make white mobs so strong). An interaction such as parry will be beautiful in a game like Elden Ring, where you only deal with 1 monster at a time, or a small little pack of monsters that aren't charging at you at light speed all at once with on-death effects, and projectiles from 10 other monsters all tryna spam you into oblivion.
You mentioned Lightning Spear too. People play this because Poe2 is all about crowd control and AoE damage. This is why spark, heralds, lightning spear, leap slam into boneshatter, etc are all used so much. It's because GGG is literally creating a necessity to play crowd control and/or AoE builds, but nerf everything into nothingness! They quite literally give us no choice in the matter. Of course people will be mad about that. This is the identity crisis
Trolls are working extra hard today.
Ignore this thread, it's a rage bait.
Sitting in HO spamming alts for 4 hours straight is peak PoE gameplay. Thanks, Chris.
I say that if you want to run this company on a shoestring budget with an update every six months, 2 programmers that double as marketing and tech support, follow this guys model.

Although "Play with someone else" may be hard to do, as there will be so few people left when all of the suggested is implemented, that you may ALL be in one party.

If the dev's have a vision of almost NOBODY playing the game, then I think that is fine. Everyone should be able to have a game they love.

Just do not expect an audience larger than the cub scout meeting down the street. Certainly do not expect to grow. The way I see the game as is - I should not have invested in it without first understanding that the vision was not for a large audience, but for a niche that loves to whip themselves in the back repeatedly when they are not at the computer playing POE 2.

The game in it's current state is not for players that never tried POE 1, like me. It is so complex and so destructive to new players because of the lack of knowledge and background in the game, that most new players will quit, and never buy a game from GGG again. That seems perfectly ok to about 1/12000th of the people that post here.

If I have to look up a build online so I can get get through the campaign, you have already failed at something along the way. If you are not explaining almost everything about the game during the campaign, and providing multiple paths go keep moving forward and keep attention, you will create another game with a tiny following. I guess that is ok.. I don't know.
