3.25 End-of-League Private League Events

Wish there was just a sentinel one since i want to play that leauge again with the regular ascendencies
Thanks for hope GGG that PoE One is still live.
I like new Gauntlet so much!
And happy to be able play it again.
Thank you for keeping us updated about the best ARPG ever made.
I would have wished for phrecia league to stay until June.
had a lot of fun and even more to do still.
Probably can't afford the time to get all those idol sets again.
What about fixing people not having access to their accounts and it's been 9 days?
Would be awesome to have TOTA league if possible. Also, it sounds like these won't be "mixable". We should definitely have an "All of the above" option at least. Kalandra+ alt ascendancies + sentinel + atlas invasion/wisps would be fun.

So many people hating on PoE 2, GGG being out of touch and so on. However, I think we need to see the bigger picture, because it's not so black or white.

GGG made us to believe next league will arrive on schedule, which is fine, they had a lot to do with PoE 2, to make it accessible and less buggy for early access. Problem here is: When GGG realized they're not going to make it in terms of PoE 1 content cycle dates, they continued working on PoE 2 without considerably changing their plans.

Now we get another short event, again, based on Settlers league and how long after GGG announced that PoE 1 got life support treatment? 30th of January. Internally it must've been earlier than that. And the decision then was to continue focusing on PoE 2, but assign minimally more resources for PoE 1. That's why we got Phrecia and now we get these private leagues.

However, now we get to the fun part, because I don't think many people don't understand, the ones that are saying "PoE 2 bad", granted GGG should be more transparent about it. PoE 2 is still early access. There are a lot of things that has to be balanced, a lot of things that have to be improved and that has a reflection on how enjoyable the game is to play. We have no idea what they're planning on introducing next in terms of new content. I wish it all the best.

Patches like 0.2, that were heavily advertised, imo make a promise. A promise of a good, enjoyable game, a promise of having fun with interacting with new content and old all the same, a promise of improvement. Making those promises in early access game with a LOT to improve until the game gets out of early access is not the way to go imo, especially that the patch was on par if not better advertised than PoE 1 league. PoE 2 basically gets the community of their beloved game and gives them an unfinished, unpolished game and asks them to test it under the illusion of playing it. Is it long term sustainable? Nope.

Is it fair now to say PoE 2 is a bad game and there is no hope for it? Nope, absolutely not. It is still an early access, and considering how good PoE 1 is, the game is bound to be better over time. Is it fair to say PoE 1 got abandoned for PoE 2? Kind of, yes. Considering how much PoE 1 is a success, giving it life support treatment and focusing on a product that is flawed and will take many, many months till is polished, feels like they shot themselves in the foot.

My honest advice from basically no one: Shift focus from PoE 2 to PoE 1, maintain releasing new content for 1, while slowly working on the 2. Don't release new stuff when current problems are so apparent, unless the new stuff is meant to fix the problems. Don't make it look like a fully fleshed out game when it clearly is an early access. Don't abandon the community of PoE 1 that don't want to become testers of an unfinished game. We are very passionate about this game, but everything has an end, given enough reason.

Spoken like a true no-supporter pack player
PoE1 so much better then PoE2. They make such a huge step back with PoE2 and its so sad they they dont rly care about PoE1. T_T
My Review:

Excellent idea in general!

The biggest concerns are:
1. It risks further fragmenting the players and reducing trade volume, particularly by increasing the use of Private Leagues.
2. Having fewer items available directly impacts trade quality.
3. The inconvenience of repeatedly leveling new characters just to test mods is a significant deterrent (feels bad).
4. It’s frustrating to be unable to trade or play with a friend simply because of differing mod preferences.
5. Finally, the demand for race characters adds another layer of complexity.

Proposed Solution: A central control system within your hideout – allowing players to manage and activate/deactivate mods – would effectively address these issues. Ideally, settings should be character-bound.

Further Considerations: To manage the race character demand, you could initially limit its availability to 1-2 week “short temporal leagues” or even short private leagues – then merge it with the main temporal league, utilizing a special device within the hideout to activate and deactivate mods.

Final Statement:
This is the way in which I would integrate leagues or events within a league.

Streamlining Mod Preferences: A League & Event System Design Proposal
I would like to thank you again for Phrecia, one of the best events in my 12 years PoE career (IMHO).
Thank You! If it really was an "interns projects" as many people were joking about, those "interns" need a raise.

But I would also like to mention my "point of view" on the situation we got at the moment.

What we have:
- Rather unpopular "league" in GGG’s main project, PoE2. At the moment too many people complain, some leave. I still play it occasionally but don’t feel it to be honest. All I can add here: lets hope for a better days to come.

- Rather successful event going on in PoE1 (now a GGG’s "foster kid", unfortunately), which is still alive and well. Some people complain of course (mostly about Idols acquisition which is understandable) but many of us like it and like the builds we made there (I invested quite a lot of time into making them, personally, and I still play Phrecia more than PoE2). Frankly it was Phrecia and not the whole brand new glossy PoE2 which made me purchase few more supporter packs.

- Rather strong competitor running. I don’t play Last Epoch but many good people I know do it and like a lot. This is probably a good game and this is a "problem" for PoE and GGG as well.

What you do:
Kill rather successful event and replace it with many (15!) private leagues (aka small "events").
Thanks for keeping it free (at least for a "trial period" of one month) but don’t you think it will divide player base even more and most of those events will be deserted in less than a week? Also if you want me to play a private league why don’t you let me pick mods I like and force all that gauntlets… ehm… "stuff" on me? Isn’t the whole idea of private leagues is to let players customise it and play what they want? I have many more questions but this post is long enough already…

See you in 3.26 guys!
