10% of Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield with lich ascendancy means just a flat 10% damage reduction as long as you have ES.

And another question: does this additional ES, that was converted from life, stack with Illuminated crown passive?

If I get about 180 additional flat ES from this helmet, will it be multiplied by 70% and then - by all my ES modifiers?

I think this node only interacts with the 58 es the helmet provides not the es provided by the unique passive but I did not test this myself.

It's just straight up damage reduction, its very strong. With the ascendancy passive (10%) + the one node on the tree (5%) and Atziri's Disdain (10%) combined with "Eternal Life" you get 25% damage reduction against ALL damage. This stacks with all of the DR you have from resists, so you end up quite tanky for a witch.

It gives "#% damage taken bypasses Energy Shield" so it's a 10% reduced damage taken with the ascendency "Eternal Life" since your life can't change while you have ES.

I love that we now explained the % dmg reduction to him 3 times in a row, word for word :'D

How can this be enjoyed when contagion is a projectile.. Mobs move so fast you contagion one mob and with essence drain hit some other, failing the combo.

Contagion isn't a projectile. Essence Drain is. But yes, it is hard. The easiest setup is Unleash in Contagion and Chain in Essence Drain. Having decent cast speed also helps. Also, depending on where you are in your damage scaling. If you can essence drain first, contagion will tend to auto target things with essence drain on them already. However, there is only a brief time that is an effective strategy since most of your dmg comes from Essence Drain. Hope it helps.

Also, keep in mind for annoying fast squishy things you can just use contagion or despair (with the dot support) and a Dark Effigy to deal with them. Much easier then trying to hit them with essence drain.
