Network Spikes
Was playing the other night and experienced a slew of really bad network spikes that would freeze my game up, sometimes for seconds at a time.
I switched servers and it got a little better, but still wasn't great. I pulled the instance IP (post server switch) from the logs and fed it into WinMTR. I'm not sure anything can be done but I thought I would just add a data point for y'all :) but maybe there's something I can do. I will say this had been a pretty consistent experience for the last month, some nights worse than others, I imagine its general server load at peak times and whatnot. I do not play over Wifi, and switching to Predictive didn't alleviate the problem. https://pastebin.com/rxut7xGN Last bumped on Apr 29, 2025, 9:32:35 PM

" Do you play using a powerline adapter kit? The problem is in your home. Here's the first line of the log; | Host - % | Sent | Recv | Best | Avrg | Wrst | Last | |------------------------------------------------|------|------|------|------|------|------| | 192.168.0.1 - 1 | 644 | 642 | 0 | 0 | 15 | 9 | Your computer sent 644 echo requests to your router, and received 642 responses. Some of your data disappeared - but it wasn't disappearing when moving from one ISP's network to another, or traversing to a neighbouring country. It disappeared before it had even tried to leave your home. I am not trying to be unhelpful, but this is a you problem; not a Path of Exile problem. We could maybe try to help you troubleshoot, but we'd need to know more about your computer and your home network to start. You're not using WiFi. Okay. What are you using? Completely valid, I don't think you're trying to be unhelpful at all - thanks for replying.
I am running a pihole, so I will try playing with that turned off for a bit. But the whitelists on there shouldn't be affecting anything, but shouldn't is the most popular word when troubleshooting IT issues. The previous log was just to Canada East. For now, this is a snapshot from the last 30 or so minutes playing connected to California US. https://pastebin.com/ja91cyFc ----------- Edit: My game kicked me after that last one, unsurprisingly there were probably a lot of downstream issues. Next logs are after I reconnected, and are chronological over a couple hours. https://pastebin.com/NSpzcWuD - Things were going good, not unsurprising if I've been routed differently. Still a pretty huge % of packet loss on the Seattle hop, but this was not noticeable in game at all. https://pastebin.com/nj282zNx - Things started to deteriorate though. Went to idle at camp. Still being routed the same, and we can still see a slow deterioration: https://pastebin.com/ghC6hc05 https://pastebin.com/KQjCiAF7 - Things are bad. https://pastebin.com/RxVj1eDw - Almost unplayable, huge spikes. Took some graph screenshots in-game. Will post more hardware info to share, make of my router etc. None of my testing with my pihole turned off or on yielded any differences what so ever, and that's by far the most atypical component of my setup. Everything else is really vanilla. Last edited by mezziah187#1233 on Apr 29, 2025, 11:00:46 PM

Here's a video example with the network graphs turned on: https://youtu.be/YGzKfoao5c4?si=hQTSuLTAb3BofCb-
Here's the WinMTR of the server I was connected to for that recording: https://pastebin.com/yYC3MTA0 Modem is a Sercom DM1000 Router is a TP-Link Archer AX55 Last edited by mezziah187#1233 on Apr 29, 2025, 11:24:00 PM
