how does E shield work in this case

When the damage going to the energy shield is higher than the shield, does this damage go to hp or does the shield absorb it?

I mean the excess damage.

will the shield that is too small for this damage absorb it or in this case it is calculated as damage to hp and you lose hp in the same one hit. so I have 5k shield and 2k life will one hit dealing 8k damage kill me or will the shield absorb the excess and another hit must be dealt so that hp can drop.

will the shield absorb excess damage or will one shot 8k kill me?

The excess damage goes straight to life- one shotting you*

thank you for your answer.

Because I saw on youtube how a guy had 1 hp and a zero shield and walked in the fight for a few seconds and nothing killed him I thought that maybe the shield protected him in this way.
I've been wondering about this too! It's like figuring out the animatronics' attack patterns in Fnaf. Does excess damage bypass the shield entirely and hit your HP directly? So, if an 8k hit lands on your 5k shield with 2k HP, will it one-shot you, or will the shield absorb the overflow, leaving you alive but vulnerable? This is important for strategy!
