I really thought PoE 2 was going to fix my issues with PoE 1
Zooming around maps until you randomly get 1 shot by something you never saw coming. Now its even worse, because GGG now has a misguided notion to not let let players get defenses. Basically, if you're not rocking energy shield/evasion or stacking fire res and converting, you're glass cannon. Even then you're still randomly 1 shot.
This isn't the game they showed off in the trailers, with slow methodic combat. And that's fine. Then just accept what the game is, and stop stomping on the player's balls. Let life, armor, and regen come back. Don't let it get as convoluted as PoE 1 with 15 defensive layers. Just let the existing ones function. Ziz said it best. It feels like we're all playing PoE 2 while the mobs are still playing PoE 1. It feels GREAT when a you're playing clunky feel bad builds trying to do these time consuming combos in order to do damage worth a damn when some white mob with a hammer charges runs up to you like sonic the hedgehog and does a .3 second slam and one shots you. I wouldn't have minded slower methodic combat the game promised in its early stages, but that ship sailed. You're not going to be able to claw it back now. So accept what you have and make it function. PoE 1 so desperately needed a reset and simplification. You still have that going for PoE 2. This game is just so frustrating to play. And unrewarding. Also, can I ask what the logic is behind the end game progression? Leveled 2 characters to 90+ this season, and still didn't have enough splinters for a single breachstone, simulacrum, or saw an invitation. What kind of game design is it to not be able to interact with the end game content unless you buy the currency to engage with it from other players, in order to have it drop the currency you need to engage with it? Its so weird the choices that were made... hey what if we had expedition but made everyone a shitty Rog? What if we had ritual and just made players stare at inventories of utter garbage hoping for currency, since all the items are rolled terribly? What if we had breaches not drop a single splinter until you're in red maps?? What if we added wisps that do nothing to make loot drops better? What if we add exiles but make them so rare they may as well not be in the game at all, even if you spec atlas for them? I really wish the first thing GGG would ask themselves from here on out before adding or changing anything one a simple question. "Okay, but is this FUN for the player?"
