This entire Situation just further highlights the Fact that we desperately need Offline Trading
I actually want to make more characters and I want to continue playing. I don't care all that much that Settlers has been going on for so long that it's basically Standard League now, or that PoE 2 (predictably) turned to shit. I'm here for some PoE 1 fun and crazy shenanigans. I have ideas. I have PoBs. What I don't have is hundreds of hours of time to spend on creating specific items of which multiples already exist with a listed price.
...but there's no migration. There are items I need for certain gimmick builds that are technically on the market that would probably take me hundreds of hours to farm for, crafting etc. included, but I just can't buy any of them because the sellers are all offline. And the few ones that are online selling some other basic key items have vastly inflated prices. 50 Div for a jewel that I could buy for 1 Div if people were online, lol. Just one example. Items with the perfect corruption combinations for my ideas, yet I have waited literal weeks for anyone to come briefly online, even if just for a minute or two, so that I could trade. To no avail. I've been eyeing certain other items that have been sitting there for several months now. Those sellers are never coming back online, that much is clear, and it's driving me nuts. This entire situation really shows, in my opinion, that we DESPERATELY need some form of offline trading. It's not the first time that dream items are rotting on the market, with the sellers never coming back online for a trade. It's one thing that's been driving me nuts for years, and this entire fiasco is just driving the point home! Not going to happen. You need to "feel the weight" of spamming trade messages and sitting there idle at your keyboard hoping for a response.
Luckily the people running the Chinese/Asian client have firmly entered the 21st century of game design instead of Diablo 2. Oh wait, Diablo 2 had an NPC to identify everything for you. Truly cutting edge technology far beyond "the vision". |

People are too afraid of their items getting bought below market value, and this is clearly reflected in the price inflation issues we’re already seeing in PoE2.
(keep raising the price every time someone shows interest) What kind of offline trading system could solve that problem? I get where you're coming from, but hoping that someone who hasn’t logged in for a week will come back to complete a trade is a bit unrealistic. It’s not really about needing an offline marketplace, it seems more like wanting to get free gear from people who’ve essentially quit the game. " What free gear? There are key items on the market, i.e. a very specific Watcher's Eye combo, that nobody can buy and that only exist in offline stashes. They are already priced accordingly. Again, what about any of this is "free gear" to you? I can list a random-ass corrupted jewel for 200 Divine Orbs, that doesn't mean it's worth that much (if that's what you are getting at). I ended up working the build around to not even use the jewel anymore that I was talking about, because I'm certainly not stripping my entire stash to pay obscene prices for items overvalued 10x their actual value. Or are you trying to tell me that you'd be willing to pay 500 Divs for an item that has a typical sell value of 40-50 Divs? And only because, maybe, it's ~2-3k players that still play the league? Come on, man. [Removed by Support]

I wasn’t calling you a beggar. when I said “free,” I meant that someone who has been offline for weeks and has likely lost interest in the game probably doesn’t care much about item pricing anymore. At a certain point, for the seller, it’s no longer really a trade but more like a donation.
That said, I admit I overlooked the continuity of the market — if an item is in demand, it’ll likely sell quickly regardless. |

Still, in a game like this, when supply is low, the idea of a “fair price” becomes meaningless anyway.
Just my opinion, I think introducing offline trade (similar to currency trading) would be fine for items with stable prices throughout the league. However, items that fluctuate heavily between league start and end (like multi double damage Lethal Pride) or niche items, I imagine manual trading would still dominate. I value the idea that trade should be an agreement between both parties at the same point in time. I'm fine with non-face-to-face trading that doesn't require going to someone's hideout, but I'm not too keen on fully offline trading. |

" I'm sorry, but I don't see how your opinion on the matter has any firm hold when you are an SSF player who only plays meta builds? I play wacky, off-meta gimmick builds. I rely on trade because some of the funky stuff would take months to try and create on my own because the odds are so low and/or the drop rates of the items are so low or behind super grindy (and gated) content. That's like going to a car dealership and saying that nobody needs petrol cars in your opinion because electric works fine and you own one, completely disregarding the fact that it needs proper infrastructure that isn't yet widely available because it's very expensive to build and maintain. " OP doesnt realise (or deliberately lying) that not actually long ago all big prices were in exalts. So bying in exalts can be called free, for sure. And many prices are came from leagues, where were much much lower. Especially from whom left in early days of league, but had precious stuff. So yeah, they are technically in offline market, and they are heavily outdated and cheap so, what can be said the're frre. |

" What do Exalts have to do with Divines all of a sudden? No one here mentioned Exalt to Divine ratio. [Removed by Support]

Well, I’ll admit my original build definitely isn’t capable of taking down Uber Pinnacles.
As an SSF player, I honestly don’t care much about what happens in trade leagues, but I’d appreciate your thoughts in helping me understand something. Even taking into account the risk of missing a sale, wouldn’t items that either reliably go up in price later in the league, or extremely niche ones that are hard to price, still remain scarce — even if offline trading were introduced — because they’d either be listed manually with an “asking price” or at some absurd number? (that's just how I would approach it.) |
