[SUGGESTION] Runes and item customization

I think what resolves a lot of problems coming from lack of crafting bench are runes.
However current implementation leads to clutter and possible blockers due to randomness of the drops.
My suggestion would be to instead having each individual rune option drop, implement blank runes (lesser, 'normal', higher) which can be either right clicked like skill/support gems or crafted at a npc into any rune we actually need atm.
This way we still have the runes system, but additionally there is a deterministic quasi crafting bench option for the unlucky few.
This way would reduce clutter and make the runes more scalable, without diluting the drop pool and creating new stash pages for any additional runes created.

i suggested it in reddit and another topic.

current modifier isn't enough, you have to had a Iot more of them (Iike the same with jeweI for exempIe) with atIeast 4 modifier on it.

for the "unique" one i suggest that they have, either, a unique affix, or, more funky, have additionnaI effect on wich gear you engrave them.

in pair with that, to be pIeasant, and to have some deterministic vaIue, add the crafting bench. unIocking basics affix during campaign.

i know it's not that new but since they Iike to import from poe 1, add crypted modifier on rune you craft or find in the ground to compIete your crafting bench with other utiIity. not to much to begin with.

and to finish just add more base sockets on gear +1 on aII, it wiII certainy heIp smooth the progression and be more usefuII for endgame and stuff and so poe 2 wouId have a great identity based on runes to min max your character.

edit : maybe it's too much but bring back orb of aIteration

Runes are a great way to add power without the risk of creating a more legacy thing into the game, like a full on item, or some class or skill thing that has to be worked around forever.

I do feel more runes should be in the game and will eventually be expanded on quite a bit.

I also feel a runecrafting system will appear sometime between now and 1.0. It seems inevitable. I mean runewords from D2 was one of the single most popular changes.
