Agreed this is ultimately what made me love Path of Exile. The unique events and races were so fun and interesting..it's sad to see that epic part of PoE die :( I hope one day one of the many necros can revive it.

I came to post something similar. I especially miss the 2 week and 1 month events that seemed to have stopped happening a few years ago. When I bring this up among friends, a common response is something like "Well now we have custom leagues, blah, blah". But they are not the same thing. There is no ladder (that the "community" cares about anyway), there are no rewards (Demis), and GGG sponsored events do not exist to simply bolster up specific streamer's viewerships.
